BamBam is not your stereotypical greyhound. You know, the one where people say greyhounds are couch potatoes. BamBam is NOT a couch potato. In fact he's a busy body. He is a dog who needs a job. Whether that be pet therapy, regular Meet & Greets, dog sports (like coursing, agility, obedience, scent work, etc.) or even a super active family who goes hiking regularly or does a lot of RV travel adventures. He is NOT a stay at home dog. He would be miserable staying home while his family goes off to do activities.
Sure BamBam can take naps with the best of them. But then he's up and raring to go. He travels really well in my minivan. He gets in and settles down right away. He jumps up when you stop to see where you are and what big adventure is next.
BamBam is very food AND toy motivated so training should go well with him. He and I are going to start working on some basic obedience and manners this next week coming up. He's a smart boy who should pick up quickly. I expect his downfall will be his attention span. He is after all a young, bouncy male. We'll keep our training sessions short and fun.
BamBam reminds me a lot of my boy, Blaze. Blaze has never been a typical greyhound. Blaze is happy to go things pretty much daily so we do a lot of different things. BamBam is the same way.
BamBam is a social butterfly who needs a calendar booked up with activities. He is a dog that will add so much to the right family's life. But if your looking for a dog to chill at your feet day in and day out--this boy is not the right dog.
Just as with other breeds, some dogs just don't fit the breed stereotype. That's BamBam!
